Luncheon Recap: Investing in Social Entrepreneurs

Last week’s Investing in Social Entrepreneurs Luncheon was a huge success. We had over 90 individuals and students attending. At the start of the luncheon, eight teams from Punahou’s Profit for Progress were able to showcase innovative solutions to some of Hawaii’s biggest problems. Since the luncheon, Punahou has been working with IHS to use a $25,000 grant to further develop new financial streams and bring about meaningful change in downtown Honolulu.

Our Impact Investor Panel then shared their perspectives and insights about how investing in social entrepreneurship can make a difference. Businesses and individuals can think about their triple bottom line to measure the success of their venture, which consists of people, profits, and planet.

Opening remarks were made by HVCA President Meli James & Punahou School’s Casey Agena.

Panelists:

Shanah Trevenna – Impact Hub Honolulu

Connie Mitchell – IHS Director

Michael Kramer – Natural Investments

Steve Kiser – Volta Industries

Pia Chock – Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Investment Ready Program
